Rivertree Students is going hiking at Monte Sano!
Join us on Thursday, July 30th for a mid-morning hike to the famous Stone Cuts at Monte Sano State Park. We will meet at the Bankhead Parkway Trailhead at 10:00 AM, hike to the Stone Cuts, spend some time exploring the caves/rock formations, eat lunch together, hike back up to the overlook for a group picture, and return to the trailhead by 1:00 PM.
This hike is approximately 4.39 miles with about 746 feet of elevation change. It is a moderate hike — not the hardest Monte Sano has to offer, but not the easiest either. Students should be physically able to complete the hike and prepared for summer heat, bugs, rocky terrain, and uphill sections.
Students should bring plenty of water, a packed lunch, comfortable hiking/running shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing.
We will meet at the Bankhead Parkway Trailhead, located near the hairpin turn on Bankhead Parkway.
