We are excited about our opportunities to help plant healthy churches and Grace Community Church is a partner that is near and dear to our hearts for many reasons.
Rivertree experienced the incredible gift of witnessing and participating in the Lord’s work in the city of Gurley for many years through Rivertree members and our local partner, Graces of Gurley.
As Graces of Gurley ministered in the Gurley community, they reached people of different ages and walks of life who did not have a church home, but were interested in the gospel. It became apparent that planting a church could be helpful in serving the people in this area, and after much prayer and planning Grace Community Church held their covenant service on August 6 and now meets weekly on Sunday afternoons.
Grace Community Church is its own entity. Graces of Gurley still exists and functions to reach the people of Gurley with the gospel and life-changing opportunities, and Grace Community Church strives to provide a church home for people who have not found their home in Christ or a church so far.
The lead pastor of Grace Community Church, Josh Evans, served for three years as a Pastor to Students at Rivertree, and while we miss the Evanses greatly, we love bearing witness to what the Lord is doing through them in our neighboring city.
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
We can support Grace Community Church in 3 ways. We can pray, we can partner, and we can participate. You can find out more about Grace Community Church here or email Shae Walton at shae@myrivertree.org if you have any questions.
Thank you, Rivertree, for open-handedly loving our neighbors!
