REPRESENTED AND RESTORED: Seeking Access to Justice for Uganda’s Imprisoned Children

Join us on November 14 from 6:00–8:00 pm for a complimentary dinner as we hear about Sixty Feet and the work they are doing to break the cycles of injustice in Uganda.

Advocating for youth who come into contact with the law, Sixty Feet walks alongside these young people both in and out of detention facilities by providing legal support, counseling, discipleship, medical care, vocational training, and resettlement services.

DETAILS:

Our keynote speaker this year is Seth Bamburg, Executive Director of Pepperdine University’s Sudreau Global Justice Institute (SGJI), where he leads efforts to provide access to justice systems and equip the next generation of globally minded leaders. He is a double alumnus of Pepperdine University and has a background in both legal and operational leadership, including prior roles at Pepperdine and in the private sector.

We will also hear from Sixty Feet Director Michael Walters, as well as Rivertree’s very own Ava Weeks!

We want to extend an extra welcome to anyone with expertise in the justice system or social work. Come and hear about you can help from here!
_______________

WHO IS 60 FEET?

Sixty Feet works to break the cycles of injustice by providing for the legal needs of children, both before they enter prison facilities and while they are incarcerated. Sixty Feet (known as Children Justice Initiative in Uganda) also provides medical care, counseling, resettlement, and other services to imprisoned children.

Many of the incarcerated children in Uganda have committed no crimes; the government sweeps up street children and places them in remand centers (prisons) because in many cases, no other housing options exist. Sixty Feet advocates for children, helping them navigate the judicial system and eventually resettle with family members after their time has been served.
